Mission Recap – Addison, 10, makes history with JDC Foundation Tour win

Addison Hefferon wrote his name in the history books on Sunday after becoming the youngest winner of a JDC Foundation Tour event at just 10 years old.

‘The Assassin’ joined the Mission Academy in March this year and caught the eye with a run to the quarter-finals of Event 12 a fortnight ago.

The Milton Keynes youngster made another quarter-final in Event 13 on Saturday, before making history the next day after winning the Event 15 title.

Hefferon won seven matches in a row to win the tournament, including a trio of last-leg deciders against Jack Divall, Liam Rowe and Joshua Gregory, before defeating Junior Howard 5-3 in the final.

Meanwhile, Jake Hobbs enjoyed a run to the semi-finals of Event 15, dropping just three legs on his way to the last four and beating Foundation Tour leader Arthur Allston in the quarter-finals.

With four events left of the current season to go, Hobbs sits in third place on the ranking table, with Ethan Baines in sixth spot and Hefferon, following his maiden title, in 11th.

Jack Tweddell claimed his first PDC title with a victory in Event 15 on the Challenge Tour on Sunday.

The Swindon star, who reached a final on the Challenge Tour back in 2015, went one step better at the weekend winning eight matches on the spin to pocket the £2,500 top prize.

The 30-year-old had shown his potential with a run to the semi-finals of Event 14 the previous day, a campaign that included a 5-4 triumph over the reigning Lakeside champion Shane McGuirk in which he averaged 103.25.

Tweddell then broke new ground the next day, beating the likes of Andreas Harrysson, Alexander Merkx and Colin Osborne on his way to the final, where he saw off Mervyn King 5-1 to join the Challenge Tour roll of honour.

Graham Hall narrowly missed out on a first Challenge Tour title in 12 years after reaching back-to-back finals in Events 12 and 13.

‘The G-Man’ won his first Challenge Tour event back in 2013 before spending two years on the professional circuit with a PDC tour card in 2023 and 2024.

Hall’s two final runs over the weekend included an astonishing 117.42 average in a last 128 clash with Steven Harbert in Event 13. He won five straight legs in 12, 15, 14, 12 and 11 darts to post the highest match average on the Challenge Tour this season.

Martin Lukeman produced his best run on the European Tour for three years with a quarter-final appearance at the European Darts Grand Prix on Sunday.

‘Smash’, who is a former European Tour finalist and a runner-up at the Grand Slam of Darts last November, picked up wins against Benjamin Pratnemer, Damon Heta and Raymond van Barneveld to make the last eight in Sindelfingen.

Lukeman’s run ended in the quarter-finals where he lost out 6-5 in a last-leg shootout to the eventual champion Gary Anderson.

Dennis Nilsson continued his push for Lakeside with a run to the final of the Denmark Masters this past weekend.

The Swede lost out to the in-form Corne Groeneveld in the decider, whilst also making the quarter-finals of the gold-ranked Denmark Open, to pick up almost 100 ranking points.

‘Strongman’ is now provisionally sixth in the men’s ranking table for the 2025 WDF World Championships, as he looks to return to Lakeside as a seed for the first time.

The 13-year-old, who missed double 12 for a nine darter earlier on in the tournament, landed the big fish to beat PDC tour card holder Mario Vandenbogaerde in the final.

Bobby Haste added to his trophy tally with a victory in the JDC Volts at Woodhouse Cricket Club at the weekend.

The 11-year-old went unbeaten through the tournament, winning all five of his group matches, before beating Archie Harrison-Burton and Josh Stonehouse in last-leg deciders to win the title.
