Recap – Chokhani Wins National Title

Aryaveer Chokhani added another Indian national title to his collection after winning the BRC Summer Darts Open Championship at the weekend.

The 14-year-old continues to make a big impression in his home country as he beat former PDC World Championship qualifier Nitin Kumar 4-1 in the final.

Chokhani, who joined the Mission Academy last month, dropped just one leg across his eight matches in the tournament and averaged an eye-catching 96.97 in the quarter-finals.

The teenager won three events across the weekend as he also triumphed in the youth boys competition before teaming up with Vikehelie Suohu to lift the open doubles title.

Elsewhere, two other players from the Mission Academy tasted success at the weekend with Lex Paeshuyse and Lauren Stokoe both lifting silverware.

Belgium’s Paeshuyse, 12, won the youth singles event at the Diamond Darts Open in Antwerp, whilst Stokoe, 15, only lost one leg on her way to victory in the under-18s girls competition at the North East Youth Darts Summer Slam.

Connor Scutt has caught the eye this week on the MODUS Super Series finishing top of Group A to qualify for Saturday’s finals night in Portsmouth.

‘The Sniper’ produced an incredible 120.24 average during a 4-0 victory over Steven Jamieson yesterday – the second highest ever average in a match at the Super Series.

And finally, Team Mission was well represented at the World Matchplay and Women’s World Matchplay in Blackpool last week.

Josh Rock performed well in defeat as he lost 10-4 to Ross Smith in the first round with a 98.91 average and seven 180s.

Ryan Joyce pushed the Masters champion Stephen Bunting into overtime in their round one encounter, losing 12-10 with a 95.57 average and a roof-raising 167 checkout.

Ritchie Edhouse made his World Matchplay debut and took out a 130 finish in a 10-7 defeat to Chris Dobey, whilst in the Women’s World Matchplay Rhian O’Sullivan was beaten 4-1 by Lisa Ashton in the quarter-finals.
